Usually in Israel, spring comes early and although it’s one of the most beautiful times of the year, we generally feel like we haven’t had quite enough rain and would have liked a bit more of winter. This year has been quite different! In the month of February, we had some incredible torrential rain storms – days of rain and cold weather resulting in damaging flooding in many places. And even in this last week, we have had more heavy rain and more is expected. For the first time in many years, we can say that we have had enough winter and we are ready for the warmth of spring!
The good news is that the Sea of Galilee has risen considerably and is now over the red line for the first time in two years and it is still rising. Mt Hermon has had lots of snow and the spring runoff will continue to pour needed water into the Lake.
We rejoice that we have had such abundant rainfall this year and pray that these rains are a prophetic sign of the rain from heaven that will pour down upon this dry and thirsty land this year! The harvest is ready!
April 9th, the date of the national elections is fast approaching. It has been a turbulent period with different and suddenly changing coalitions, resulting in the addition of several new political parties. The most significant one that is challenging Netanyahu and his Likud party is the new “Blue and White Party”. This centrist party is the result of a merge between the “Yesh Atid” party headed by Yair Lapid and the “Resiliance Party” headed by military chief Benny Gantz. If elected, they are planning on sharing the Prime Minister position, with Gantz taking the head position for 21/2 years and then handing it over to Lapid.
Last week, after losing the fight to postpone it till after the elections, Prime Minister Netanyahu was served the indictment on corruption charges. This has caused a shaking in the election arena and is dominating the news. Though there have been calls for him to step down in light of this, Netanyahu is continuing his fight for reelection and has declared his innocence quite fervently. Please pray for God’s will to be done and that true justice will prevail. Pray that the new government would be stable and strong as it stands against the rising tide of anti-semitism around the world and the constant threat of war on every front.
On Tuesday, we had an appointment with the oncologist to review the latest MRI which was done last week. Sadly, the report was not good. The scan showed that the tumor in the brain has grown, which means that the current treatment has become ineffective and the doctor said there is nothing really left to do in the way of treatment, except for a couple of experimental drugs which do not offer any great chance of success. We will be meeting with him again in two weeks to discuss this further.
Although this was difficult news to hear, we remain strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We ask for your continuing prayers for a miracle. God is able to do above and beyond what we ask or can imagine. Our heart’s desire is to live and to declare the great works of the Lord!
We thank you as always for standing with us in love and for your support both in prayer and finances. You have held our arms up throughout this long battle and we have been strengthened and encouraged each step of the way. We appreciate you so very much!
We bless you in the wonderful name of Yeshua and send you our love from Zion,
